A: Booking and release times differ from jail to jail. The booking process, handled by the police, usually takes 1-2 hours at the station. The release process, which occurs once the bail bond has been posted at the jail, can take as little as 10 minutes at some police stations. Release time can be one hour or less for local police stations and 6-12 hours in a county jail*.
