The Orange Police Department does not process bail. Individuals transferred from Orange to the Orange County Jail can expect to be released on bail within about six to eight hours (and sometimes up to 12 hours) when a licensed bondsman brings in a bail bond. The Police Department takes a few hours to complete the booking process once a person is arrested. They will go through a series of forms, photos, fingerprints, livescan id verification processes before they have completed booking. This entire process can take up to several hours. Once the person is booked and is eligible for bail you should then contact a locally licensed and qualified bail bond company. After a bail bonds is deposited at the jail, the jailers will verify everything is correct and begin the release process. This process is from 15 minutes to 3 hours depending on how busy the jail is. Santa Ana is in Orange County, CA which calls for three different rates that Bondsmen are permitted to charge. They are 8, 10 and 15% bonds. Most people don’t use 15% bonds. The most common is a 10% bail bond. And the 8% bail bonds come with many different restrictions. You should check with your bondsman to learn about the restrictions of the 8% bail bonds. There are many advertisements put out by bail bond companies that say 0%, 2%, 4%, 5% and 7% bail bonds available. These are for payment plans only. The California Department of Insurance (regulates the bail bond industry) does not recognize these amounts as legal fees to charge. There are only 8, 10 and 15% bail bonds available in Santa Ana. At the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana, the booking process is a much longer one. The county jail sheriffs department processes nearly 70,000 arrestees per year. This is a very busy jail and the booking process takes about 3-6 hours depending on how busy the jail is. Once booked and eligible for bail, a bond may be posted with the cashier’s office to begin the release process. Once they have verified and begun the release process it takes up to another 3-6 hours to get released. Irvine is located in Orange County, California where bail bonds cost 10%. A bail bond is a contractual agreement between a bail bond company and a court that if the defendant doesn’t appear in court the bail bond company will pay the full amount of the bond. California has 3 filed rates that bail bondsmen can legally charge 8%, 10% and 15%. There are no 5% bonds or 7% bonds.
